"Exiles with Questions" ~ This document uses excerpts from Joyce's only play, Exiles, published in 1918, to connect common themes with "The Dead". It was almost like Joyce was playing out the scenario of what would have happened if Michael Furey had lived and if there was a love triangle. This was a persistent, if not obsessive, question for Joyce as it was based on his wife's, Nora's, past with boys named Michael Feeney and Michael Bodkin.

"The Irish Frankenstein" ~ This is a fun assignment which explores the famous political cartoon, originally published in Punch magazine. It contains two parts. Part I is focused on analyzing the meaning behind the political cartoon itself. Part II explores the little-known anonymous editorial that preceded the cartoon in the publication, also entitled "The Irish Frankenstein", and cleverly uses the words of Mary Shelley for its nefarious purposes. This is a great analytical assignment looking at Home Rule!
