"Ulysses Note Guide" ~ This is a nice little guide for students to use during their reading. They can keep track of the episode or page they are on and any questions or thoughts that arise to bring up in the group.

"Contract" ~ Given that Ulysses is not on the average secondary school's curriculum and there are certainly parts parents might find objectionable, this is a copy of my contract I give to my students for their legal guardians and themselves to read and sign. It shows how students can produce work during this extracurricular time to remediate class work so there are academic benefits. However, with all of these "setting up" documents covered, I still give my students and their legal guardians a couple of weeks to review the materials, do their own research, ask me questions, and make their decisions. Feel free to use this as a sort of template, but each teacher and school will be different.
"Why You Should Read James Joyce's Ulysses" ~ This is a great YouTube video made by Joyce scholar Sam Slote. To view it, click HERE.
"The Odyssey -- 1997" ~ This is a well-made film of The Odyssey. While it is 3 hours long, it could be worth a watch for students who would prefer it over reading the actual epic poem to give them context for the scaffolding of Ulysses. To view it, click HERE.
"Sparknotes: Ulysses" ~ Nobody is above Sparknotes if necessary. It can act as a road map ahead of reading each episode and be very helpful. You can find the link HERE.
